Thursday. Love is in the air out the back of the house this week, along with the usual smells.
A young couple came through today, just the two of them, on a date. A date! At my dunny! I have never been so moved. Kev says two is the smallest group the dunny takes, and it’s plenty, if you talk to each other. They talked to each other the whole hour. Mostly about whose idea this was.
It was their first escape room ever. They had no idea what they were doing, which is how I’ve lived my whole life, and it hasn’t hurt me. They took a hint when the gamesmaster offered one and walked out holding hands.
Bigger groups are welcome too, within reason. Six at the Manly dunny, eight at the Perth one. In Perth they like at least four on a Saturday, though a pair can ring up on the day or turn up and try their luck.
I like to think it was the setting. The golden light. The rustic timber. The romantic whistling from the woodpile. They will tell their grandchildren about me. They will have to, really.
