Lid Down on the Year

In short: Huge Axeman reviews the year. The Dunny plays at Escape This Manly, 2B The Corso, and Escape This Perth CBD on Hay Street Mall. Story, set, time limit and difficulty are the same at both; group sizes, ages, prices and access differ.

Wednesday. Time to put the lid down on another year.

Two dunnies, one on each side of the country. One by the beach in Manly, the other under the mall in Perth. Same timber, same lantern, same door, same sunset. Only the house rules differ, which Kev says I should stop calling “regional dialects”.

My resolutions for next year. One: be more humble. Two: get my name on the sign. Three: learn the second verse of “Waltzing Matilda”. Four: forget resolution one.

I would like to thank the tour groups, the gamesmasters, the cicadas, the emus, Bev, Smoko and, reluctantly, Kev. None of this would be possible without me, but they helped.

See you next year. You know where I’ll be. Out the back, by the woodpile, whistling. Mind the door.
