Wednesday. Four years today since the Perth dunny opened. Happy birthday, old girl. Well, young girl. She’s the baby of the family.
Kev showed me around the Perth place on a map. My dunny lives in a basement under the mall with a whole crowd of other rooms. A bank, a gaol, a tomb, a pirate ship, a hotel with a murderer in it. Very busy neighbourhood. I asked if any of them have a celebrity. Kev went quiet. I took that as a no.
People in Perth, I’m told, come down for one room and then go straight into another one. They warm up in my dunny before taking on something tougher down the hall. Warm up! In my dunny! I said that’s like using the Axeman as an opening act. Kev said, well.
Still. She’s doing very nicely. The tour groups are bigger over there, and the sunsets are something else, which I appreciate in a city.
I sent the Perth dunny a card. Kev says he stuck it on the fridge in the staff room. I’ll take it.
